Sapphire represents the effort to propose the Top Quality in digital source at a more competitive price. The circuit design is strictly derived from hi-end CD-Transport and Extremo DAC design, with a double monophonic IC DAC from Texas and a state of the art 192/24 upsampler from Analog Devices. A Philips CD mechanism L1210/65 is responsible of a error-free reading CD-Disc and the signals coming from the mechanism are upsampled with a very low jitter at 192/24 before the analogue conversion. A very aesthetic look completes this new CD-Player for an incredible high value for money. |

The Model 192 DAC is without any doubt the most famous NSD product around the world. This DAC represent a cost effective solution to upgrade the sound of a mid-low class CD-player. The Model 192 DAC is a 192/24 upsampling DAC with anti-jitter and discrete design analogue stage. Extremo DAC |
The Extremo 192/24 DAC is the North Star Design’s flagship digital-to-analog converter. This unit is the result of many years experience of our R&D in digital and analogue research. Each part of this DAC, from digital input to analogue output, is optimized by intensive listening sessions. The Extremo DAC can be connected via S/PDIF or AES/EBU to any existing digital source like CD-player, DAT, CD-transport. A I2S digital input allows a direct link with M192 CD-transport for the best audio performance. M192 CD-Transport |
The M192 CD-Transport is a separate unit for CD-disc reproduction, designed around the CD-PRO2M Hi-End Philips mechanism, with digital output in different standard and upsampling/anti-jitter function built-in. This compact and heavy unit allows a perfect CD-Disc rotation with error-free extraction data; an internal clock reference reduce the timing error (jitter) at a negligible value giving at the digital output (S/PDIF, AES/EBU, I2S) a perfect shaped signal for the best transmission at the D/A converter. The I2S digital output on RJ45 network standard is a plus in digital connection allowing a clock and data transmission on separate lines |
